What is SEO?

When you have something online, be it an article, a notification, a business, etc., you want people to be able to find it just by searching for it. Now you may think that this is something as simple as creting the page and it can easily be found, but that’s not really the case. What you do end up using is SEO, which stands for Search Engine Optimization. This is how you get people to your site when they look you up.

And it’s not only Google that uses this; it’s also Bing and Yahoo as well. This is where you get primary listings based on what people consider most relevant. So it’s really about optimizing your site to make it search engine friendly (hence the name).

How SEO Works

SEO works by figuring out what people are interested in and what they generally search for, basically their search phrases. So if you are selling for example kayaks, they want to know the most common ways that people look for them. Most people don’t just type in kayak into the search bar, they type in exactly what they are looking for. An example would be, what are the best kayaks for two people or best kayak to buy, etc. There is a science behind it so knowing what people are looking for is important. It’s pretty much knowing what the common search terms are. The more likely that you have the right words, you will garner more traffic to your site.

not just keywords

It’s Not Just Keywords and Phrases

You might think that just having tags is important, but that’s actually something that many of the search engines, especially Google, even use. Why don’t they use them? Because people have abused the system of tags, putting irrelevant ones on pages just to get hits. So now, SEO looks at how old your page is and also what links you are providing. The more relevant your links are, and the more authoritative they are, and the more that Google likes those links, the higher up in the rankings you are. This means being on the first page of search results, which is ideal. Consider how many people actually go to the second page. Not many.

How To Get Started

You can do it yourself, which entails doing keyword research, making sure you have the most relevant phrases and keywords on your site, then you have to build links by insuring that the ones you are using are good ones, and also research Google’s guidelines as to what is acceptable. But there is an easier way, and that’s hiring a company to do this for you. But be sure that the one you hire isn’t cheap and using techniques that will get you banned from Google (ideally not something you want). No one can guarantee that you will be ranked number one. But it also means that you are going to put out a little bit more than those guys. However, in the long run it will be worth it and help you be more profitable. If you are ready to get started , send us a message and somebody will be in touch with you within 24 to 48 hours and we will go over all the details for you and help you rank your website to the top of google.  https://www.ownmyideas.com/idea/
